Why AliExpress Standard Shipping is the best for Nigerians

I recently bought a product on AliEpxress and I will like to share three things I learnt.

This is not my first, second, or third time ordering a product via AliExpress. Also not my first time selecting AliExpress Standard Shipping since 2019.

Here is a screenshot that best describes every single word in this article.

1. AliExpress Standard Shipping Price is Affordable

A big reason I buy products made and sold in China is mainly price and availability. One of the products I bought cost around $40 on Konga and Computer Village; however, it cost just $11 on AliExpress: which is about 4x less than $40.

However, the shipping fee abroad is generally expensive, sometimes three times higher than the price of the product; so you may be discouraged to order.

Well, the good thing is AliExpress Standard Shipping is very affordable: hardly will the shipping fee be higher than the price of your item, except for low-cost items.

2. You can track your order

AliExpress Standard Shipping is not the cheapest option; depending on the item you want to order, you may see cheaper options e.g China Air Mail.

However, my challenge with cheaper shipping options than AliExpress Standard Shipping is that you can’t be sure if your order has arrived. There is this order that for about 3 months I got no update on the tracking page after it was shipped. But thank God a Post Office delivery man recognized my shipping information and decided to bring it, mentioning the order arrived about three weeks ago; but on the tracking page it was showing my order is still on the way from China.

Although AliExpress Standard Shipping may cost a little extra money, they offer good enough tracking updates and hardly will you have to deal with Customs fees.

3. Your Order may arrive on time

At most times of the year, the estimated time of delivery when you choose AliExpress Standard Shipping is 4–8 weeks. So you should be expecting your order in two months.

Well, there are times you may get your order in exactly 4 weeks. And that to me is relatively on time considering my experience with other e-commerce stores even here in Nigeria.

Also, if you look at the screenshot I shared above this article, the second shipping option(FedEx IP) cost 37,348 NGN; which is a difference of 33,542 NGN. However, if the estimated shipping time stated was set by AliExpress, then it is just a difference of 5 days; unless what you are ordering is time-conditioned, then the difference in shipping days does not justify the difference in amount.

Although you may not always get your order within 4 weeks, you can expect your order in exactly 8 weeks. Only after that should you be concerned and take the necessary actions.

Finally

You may not always see AliExpress Standard Shipping among the Delivery Options, but, per experience, if you see it; then it is best to go with it.

You may also like to know that there is no free shipping on AliExpress, the seller pays for it; so for business reasons, the seller may send your order with a very cheap shipping service, and tracking may not be possible. Try to check if the shipping method that the seller will use is AliExpress Standard Shipping. I generally avoid “Free Shipping”.

Hope that helps — Happy order 😊.
